Six Prone to Flood Regions Mapped by Makassar Disaster Management Authority (BPBD)

Smartcitymakassar.com. --MAKASSAR- In the last few days, the rainfall intensity in Makassar has been getting high. Some areas in Makassar were puddled. As a coastal area, Makassar is prone to flood.

According to Makassar Disaster Management Authority (BPBD), Syahruddin, his office has mapped six districts or kecamatan and identified as prone to flood. These districts are Panakkukang, Biringkanaya, Tamalanrea, Tamalate, Rappocini and Manggala.

Among these districts, Manggala is the most prone. "While other districts are monitored as normal level, in Manggala, because of its position as low-lying area, puddles can last for two to three days," said Syahruddin, Friday (18/12), after attending the meeting of South Sulawesi region Flood Disaster Alert Coordination.

At this moment, Makassar Disaster Management Authority has prepared some anticipations. They will be standby at site for 50 cm puddle. Tents and inflatable boats are ready to face the more severe situation.  Around 1 billion Rupiah has been prepared for this anticipation.* (Iskandar Burhan)
