Smartcitymakassar.com. --Makassar- A cooperation between Cape Town, South Africe, with Makassar has been initiated. Makassar Mayor, Moh. Ramdhan Pomanto, described this initiative while hosting a tourism tour delegation from Western Cape, South Africa. The tour visited the annual celebration of the Prophet Muhammad SAW's birthday in Makassar.
Headed by Indonesia Consul-General for Cape Town, Abdul Rachman Dudung, the delegation of 39 members will extend the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Cape Town and Makassar. A deeper cooperation between these cities were also initiated.
"The visit is an annual activity in South Africa and is also an initiative to revitalize the Sister Province MoU between Western Cape and South Sulawesi Province in which the capital of these provinces are Cape Town and Makassar", said Rachman Dudung.
He further explained that this inter-province MoU has ended since last 2010 and there was a hope to renew it in 2016. Also, the Cape Town wanted to strengthen the cooperation especially in field of education, tourism and culture. These fields have been developed well so far.
The South Africa delegation consist of religious figures, scholars and some radio journalists, South Africa Islam TV, and Voice of Islam media who will report their visits.
Moh. Ramdhan Pomanto greatly welcomed this initiative and said the the Government of Makassar is warmly open everytime and to anybody who will establish cooperation. According to the Mayor, this visit is historical moment considering that between these two cities, Cape Town and Makassar, have been strongly tied up with the Syech Yusuf figure.
