Enjoy Makassar by Cycling

Makassar. Smartcitymakassar.com. Cycling communities are increasingly popular in Makassar. They come from old bike (ontel), Eastern Bike Community and Bike to Work. 'Gowes' as the familiar term of this hobby is part of interesting as well as exciting activity knowing and exploring the all parts of the city in Makassar.

One can both cycling and visiting or exploring for example different historical sites or places as what cycling communities like Eastern Bike Community do every Saturday and Sunday. Usually their route starts from Fort Rotterdam, a famous and historical site where two-sides roads separate the fort from Losari Beach. Cycling along the roads that follows the coastline of Losari to the south, they stop off at two transits; row of semi-permanent coconut stalls to buy coconut water and Anjungan Losari or 'Losari Pavilion'.

From Losari Pavilion the tour continues to south-southwest direction following the Metro Street. Cycling along this street, at least two familiar places for picnics or swimming namely 'Akkarena Beach' and 'Tanjung Bayang' they pass. From these always-booming-visitors places, they pass Tanjung Bunga real estate, circling a built-lake up to other historical fort, Somba Opu, at the southern part of Makassar. The area of this fort is surrounded by replicas from all traditional houses in South Sulawesi area.

Knowing and exploring Makassar city from cycling seems like an adventure. Every destinations have their own interesting and unique call. A call that may be not heard or sensed while driving car, for example. You deserves to do a 'seems like' adventure to know and explore Makassar, if you have just a bike.* (Iskandar Burhan)
